
We are pleased to announce that several scholarships are
being offered for the 2012 Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway, funded by
the Jan-ai Scholarship Fund,
Toni Brown Memorial Scholarship,
Seaview and
Murphy Writing Seminars.
We have two different categories of scholarships available,
for individuals 31 and over and
for those 30 and under.
The deadline to apply for 2011 scholarships has now
passed. The winners will be announced here by December 20. Good

The
Toni Brown Memorial Scholarship
celebrates the life of Winter Getaway Poetry Faculty Member Toni Brown
and commemorates her untimely death. Support for this
scholarship is provided by the faculty, staff
and participants of the Winter Getaway.
One scholarship will be awarded to a poet or writer who is a first-time
Getaway participant and is 31 or over as of January 13, 2012.
Applications must be received by Nov. 7, 2011. Funded by the Toni Brown Memorial Scholarship.
12/1/11 Update - Because of the generosity
of the donors,
the faculty, staff and participants of the Winter Getaway. we are also able to award a 2nd place scholarship for 2012.
First Place (One recipient)
This scholarship covers tuition and a double room package (3
nights accommodation in a shared room, 3 breakfasts, 3
lunches and 1 dinner). The recipient will only need to pay for transportation and
other dinners.
Second Place (One recipient)
This scholarship covers tuition. The recipient will need to pay for
his or her room package, transportation and other dinners.

The Jan-ai Scholarship Fund commemorates the life and untimely death of young writer, poet, and photographer, Jennifer Cakert (1980 - 2006).
Two scholarships will be awarded to young poets, writers or
song writers/musicians who are first-time Getaway participants
and residents of NJ, NY or PA between the ages of 18 - 30 as of
January 13, 2012. Applications must be received by Dec. 1, 2011. Funded by the Jan-ai Scholarship Fund, Seaview and Murphy Writing Seminars.
First Place (One recipient)
This scholarship covers tuition, a quad room package (3
nights accommodation in a shared room with 3 other individuals, 3 breakfasts, 3
lunches and 1 dinner) and some "walking around money." The recipient will only need to pay for transportation and
other dinners.
Second Place (One recipient)
This scholarship covers tuition and a quad room package (3
nights accommodation in a shared room with 3 other individuals, 3
breakfasts, 3
lunches and 1 dinner). The recipient will only need to pay for transportation and
other dinners.
