The 2014 Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway Special Guests are Stephen Dunn
and Tony Hoagland.
At the Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway
January 17-20, 2014
Galloway, NJ (Atlantic City area)
The poetry writing workshops are at the heart of the
Getaway. Experienced poets are invited to work with our Special Guests,
Stephen Dunn and Tony Hoagland, during their
workshop feedback sessions.
Each morning all the poets gather for an hour or so to discuss
a packet of poems. Then Peter, the Getaway's founder, gives one of
his imaginative, challenging assignments and sends you off to write.
His unique prompts will encourage and inspire you to produce
exciting new work, and after lunch you will share your new piece in
a feedback session. One of the experienced faculty will help
identify your work's virtues and offer suggestions to strengthen its
weaknesses. Because these groups are small, you will receive
positive attention to help your work mature.
If you opt to work with one of our Special Guests,
Stephen Dunn and Tony Hoagland, during the workshop feedback
sessions, you may bring a poem in
progress (30 line maximum) or the day's assignment to be critiqued.
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to
one of these intensive sessions per Special Guest.
*Limited to just 10 participants.*
Workshops are starting to fill. Register today to secure your place.
Your tuition also includes a one-on-one tutorial with one of
our faculty who will give you a constructive critique on a poem
in progress. You will have the chance to sign up for this
session after you arrive at the Getaway.
"In the ten years I have been attending the Getaway, I have grown
in both confidence and competence as a poet. This wouldn't have
happened without encouragement to take risks coupled with support.
